Is T-Mobile getting Micro Arc Oxidation HTC One S

I am shocked when some people claimed that HTC ONE S t-mobile might only be the blue gray , gradient anodized version but I have been thinking about it the past few days and T-Mobile's tendency to go with lower quality.

Micro Arc Oxidation and the red/black color is a HUGE selling point, I really like this design, the blue/gray one not so much.

And all the photos of T-Mobile HTC ONE S only shows the blue/gray version? Odd, coincidental?

What do you guys think? Is this even a problem to be worried about, on the other hand, it doesn't make sense to T-Mobile to only offer one color since HTC is promoting the red/black version so much more?

WIll T-Mobile USA come out with the red/black Micro Arc Oxidation HTC ONE S?

I am forcing myself to like the blue/gray model for the time being because it seems to be more scratch resistant and who doesn't like blue as a color

Don't waste your time with the MAO version. There's already tons of reports of the coating flaking off quite quickly. Unless you want to get into that mess...

My case instantly covered the entire back of the phone too, so it could be made of diamonds back there. Don't even remember.

It's really not a coating. We all need to get that out of our heads. It doesn't flake off.

So Phil, what is it?

I mean I get that it's not applied, since it's a byproduct of passing 10,000 volts through the metal material, but from the shots I've seen, there's 2 possibilities:

1. It's a coating that's the byproduct of that process

OR

2. The actual metal has transformed on the outside portion, and is now chipping away (ie degrading and losing mass)

I think it's akin to this. But it's not like it's something sprayed onto the phone that can rub off (though it does kinda feel that way.)

Regardless the fact is if you scuff or dent metal, it can look "chipped."

To me the gray one whether its because of confirmation bias or not but it looks better than the black model. Too many phones are black nowdays and I can't imagine using a white phone, looks like a toy rather than a phone.

Gray is a good intermediate between white and black, the light blue border also maintains the stylish look that is shown by the red border. Black model is a good conservative choice but the gradient fade of the gray version, smooth slippery aluminum feel is very enticing not to mention that it doesn't come with the worry of any chipping problems.

I have the black version and can confirm that it does chip for no apparent reason. It has not been put anywhere except a pocket on its own and has not been dropped, and 3 chips appeared out of nowhere. Orange are replacing it, and its not the first one they have had sent back because of this.

Maybe this is why T-Mobile decided to go with the non Mao version.

Agreed! the black and red is albeit a different way, is an overused color scheme imo.

If I remember correctly, the chipping was on the micro sim cover, which is plastic on the grey/blue phone... plastic on the black/red phone too? HTC referred to it as 'chipping'

the chipping is on the top edge of the phone itself, not on the plastic cover. seen quite a few photos of it online
