Is the Gear S still worth buying?

I have a Gear Neo. I love the square look. I Don't need to use the watch as a phone. I will just use Bluetooth. Is it worth upgrading to the Gear S? I have checked out the Gear S2, lots of nice features and it is smooth to operate, I feel the roundness is to small for me.
I am wondering if it is worth the upgrade.

I have a Gear S, I don't know anything about the Neo, but, I'm not all that happy with the Gear S. It has come in handy a couple of times, but the apps suck the selection of apps is not all that great, most of them get very bad reviews, the few I have work . I agree with you about the new Gear and won't be buying one. I would rather have a tablet than the watch. I read good things about Android wear.

It depends on your needs. If you want the best watch for working out and integrating with a Samsung phone, the Gear S is great. I have a Sony SW3 as well and can tell you that it isn't that great. Certainly for fitness, AW and Google Fit have a long way to go. Battery life is up and down. You never know what update will kill your battery. Also no AW watch integrates with Nike Plus.

I just got the gear s, had the gear 2. There are things better, bigger screen, you can use the web, and one nice thing is you can reply from 3rd party sms apps such as textra, only once to the new incoming message, if you want to compose a text then you have to use the stock app, but at least you can reply to an incoming text now. There is an included keyboard that you can swipe if you want.

Over all I like the gear s better, but it does come at a price, you will be charging it daily, it was every other day with my gear 2.

Also since your not going to use it as a stand alone and blue tooth only there's no reason to pay full price of get in a contract. You can get them in Swappa for $150 for a nice one. Ask about the charger back as that seems to be a issue with the gear s, the plastic clip breaks and won't attach to the phone, you can get them on Amazon for $15.

I do want the best watch to work with my Note 4. Thanks for the info

Of course! Most people failed to realize that the Samsung Galaxy Gear s2 was Samsung's answer to the Moto 360. Now, the major difference is tizen vs android wear of course, but if you enjoy using the watch for notifications and don't need a boatload of apps, the gear s2 is perfect.

I honestly did not use most of the AW apps on my Sony SW3. Just the essential ones. Although Tizen is extremely limited, the Gear S has all the main apps needed that are useful for a watch. I love the fact that if I take just my watch, I can stream music through Milk. I just wish the Gear S supported Google Play Music or Spotify without being connected to a phone.

IMO, and those two fit my needs perfectly(Gear S & Note 4). I am finding out that everybody's needs and tastes varies a lot. For my needs and taste, the Gear S and Note 4 are perfect. Also, I was looking to upgrade to the next one of both of these. However, IMO, Samsung lowballed the upgrades on both of these devices. I will not take a Note 5 over my Note 4 and I will not take a S2 over my Gear S either..

Again, it it is according to your tastes and needs, they couldn't GIVE me either one of those devices, that is how I feel the Note 4 and the Gear S are better then their upgrades.. Just my opinion..

When I saw the GS2 was half the usable screen size of the og I stopped even paying attention. My Note4 is so right for me I never really followed the next version of it either other than the inevitable "no removable card, no removable battery" stuff that inundated the web.

I bought a Gear S and have had it a couple of days. It operates like the Neo with additional features that I like. I really like the big screen. I'm not to concerned with apps. That is why my Note 4 is for.

Thank you everyone for your comments.

I don't think so. If you want to buy Samsung Smart watch then go for Samsung Gear S2. Otherwise you can take a look on Moto 360 II or Block Modular smart watch. Both of them are high quality smart watches.

What do you think the Gear S is? IMO, the Gear S has all those you mentioned beat!
