Hey Guys.
I'm new here. I'm a Windows phone user. I have a 8X. but I'm wanting to try Android. But still using WP as my personal phone. But I like the Nexus phones. So I considered a Galaxy Nexus. But I'm not very sure. If the Galaxy Nexus is a good device for 2013. Can those people with a Gnex help me out??

Thanks

Unfortunately. I can't get a Nexus 4 . since it's $800 in NZ.Carrier locked. I can get a Galaxy Nexus for $310 unlocked

Also man. What is the Difference???

I know. But I'm not living in US anymore. I left USA 10 years ago. So I cannot Buy it in USA. I live in NZ now and the NZ government will NOT let people buy stuff in different countries. especially In the US. NZ has strict rules you know what I mean :-)

I can get the Galaxy Nexus. for a cheap price but the Nexus 4 is $800 in NZ on one carrier and the the Nexus 10 is $1000. on Trading sites

I love your advise man. I would love to get a Nex 4 but I cannot get through the Government. and what's the point of getting it when the Nexus 4 is expensive in where you live. we seem to be effected by the LG price not Google's price on it

Who would want to pay $500 NZD extra for shipping it??

The Gnex is a great phone. I picked up one on eBay last August and I have no complaints. I am a heavy user and have installed the 3500mAh extended battery and I do recommend an extra battery, OEM or equivalent at the least. They're pretty cheap on Amazon or eBay. Good luck!

Well. I learnt that Specs don't really matter to me. since I'm also a WP user and at least it runs smoothly. I'm fine with that. I'm not really wanting the greatest thing at the moment

I just made the plunge for exactly the same reason, availability (in Russia).
So compared to Nexus 4 and it's price = Gnex may seem very annoying
But to be frank I can't see what the N4 is going to do better. The phone is responsive, up gradable, tons of support as "mature"
There is no app installed that worries it (at present!)
It looks as if you can even play with that new Ubuntu phone image. And in that is the only difference I have seen with the N4. The N4 will enable you to dock the handset to a display and become a working desktop. The Gnex will not do that, only being a cool phone.
So if you want a phone to become your computer, or some other PC powered equivalent, perhaps the Gnex will not be for you. If however you want just a great smartphone.....

Galaxy Nexus is good but it is not the high-end one.

Really? The Galaxy Nexus is a high-end smartphone, even by today's measures. It was simply replaced by the Nexus 4, which is currently next to impossible to get in the US because it's been in short supply since it launched last November. And I think you're missing the point the OP is trying to make. The Nexus 4 isn't an option for him due to price. Right now, only US residents can buy an unlocked Nexus 4 for $300/350. Nobody else can, period.

It's good to be an American :)

The GNex is perfect for you then. I wouldn't spend $800+ on the Nexus 4. Plus, the Gnex is cheaper for you and it will still be getting Android updates. I'm running JellyBean 4.2.1 and the phone is fast and smooth. And, it can hold its own w/the other "high end" smartphones.

Then the GN is your best choice. You will get at least one more Android upgrade to Key Lime Pie. It's a fast enough phone that it will handle almost anything you throw at it. You probably know its major limitations, bad camera and low volume. If they aren't issues for you then go for it. N4 is not 3 times better than GN, especially since it would be carrier locked.

i have a lumia 822 on verizon and its amazing. i also have the galaxy nexus on verizon. i love it. nothing wrong with it. i have mmuzzys rom from xda running on it with an extended battery and i easily get 15 hours with 2+screen on hours out of it. it is a good pick up. any nexus device is. i would say go for it even if you are just experimenting around. it is a breath of fresh air from windows phone for the time being until 8.1 comes out

Hey mate, you should check out Pricespy - they have the N4 going for $699 at the moment :) You could also try Youshop (NZ Post service) and get it forwarded from the US.

Well I just got this phone like 3 days ago and rooted it and got 4.2.1. I love this phone and the specs really aren't that out of date especially since it gets all the updates. I would definitely recommend this phone. :)

I have both the GN and the N4 and can barely tell the difference... My GN slowed when it went from 4.1 to 4.2 but a reset straightened it out. Its as snappy as when it was new(ics)
