Is the Moto G a viable replacement for my Nexus 4?

My Nexus 4 just died and I have to find a replacement today. I am looking for something with similar or slightly better specs and reasonably priced, and my search so far led me to the Moto-G. How are you folks liking this phone? Now I know the Moto-X is more expensive, but would I later regret not springing the extra cash for the better specs?

How about the old model Nexus 5? Brand new at an affordable price... Cheaper than the Moto-G, check eBay or amazon.

Absolutely! The Nexus 4 has a 1.4ghz (I think) Snapdragon S4 Pro (32 bit) running stock Android 5.1. The Moto G has a 1.4ghz Snapdragon 410 (64bit) running stock Android 5.1. It has far better camera. The only drawback is the build quality which is worse than the nexus 4.

Posted from my Moto G (2015) on the Android Central app.

The Moto G is a very good option for that price range. I'd recommend you to go for the model with 2gb of RAM and 16gb of storage. Better performance and multitasking than the basic version.

Moto G is what I came from... Better camera, battery life, sound quality, and an all around better device... You lose DLNA, NFC, panoramic mode, 5Ghz WiFi, and a few minor things. I would never go back to the N4.

At this point, if you can wait a few weeks longer, check out the Huawei Honor 5x for $199. It's basically a Moto G Turbo with a 5.5" full HD screen and bigger battery.

I'm about to find out.

My order is listed as "complete" on the Motorola website, so I'm hoping it will ship tomorrow.

I'll keep my Nexus 4 as a backup.

The water resistance helped sell me on the phone.

Well I replaced the battery and glued my Nexus 4 back together, but the processor ( not the battery) is running super hot and the phone freezes occasionally. So I guess its days are numbered. I may order the Moto G today. It is sitting in my Amazon shopping cart along with a memory card and a case). Although the Honor 5X looks nice, I would never order something without a track record of some length of time.
