Is the Note 8 going to be too big?

Note 4 user here, it's still going.
Excited to hold and see the Note 8.
I did play around with the S8+ and it's a fine piece of machinery.
But the N8 is going to be even bigger, taller at least, than the N4 or the S8+.
Wondering if that will be just too big.
Case it and it'll literally be a tablet in your pocket. I'd hate to miss the N8 and get the S8+ because I love the Spen.
But, at some point, any phone/phablet may just get too big to be comfortable in a jeans pocket.
I realize that everyone doesn't put them in their pocket, but some still do.

The N8 should bring it out to a little closer to the N4 width and be slightly taller than the S8+. It's .1" larger than the S8+ for display size, which with a roughly 2:1 aspect ratio means it should be .03" wider and .07 taller. The overall body wouldn't need to change much in order to accommodate the extra display size. If you're good with the S8+ then the Note 8 should be fine.

That's why I like pants with big pockets on the sides like cargo pants/shorts. I won't put phone in front or back pocket. I think my limit of phone size will be the size of the note 8.

Possibly, I am not sure yet. My gf said they are alienating the women, I understand her.

I love the bigger phones. Had all the Notes, the Nexus 6, LG v20, etc. Note 8 is very intriguing and I can't wait to really try it out at Best Buy when it's on display

If the rumors are true that the Note 8 is going to sell for over $1000, they can keep it. I would never pay that for a phone.

Not this one! I've had all Notes since the N3. Always carry them in my back jeans pocket, unless I'm somewhere where I think it could be taken. Then it's the cargo shorts ;)

Never had a problem with size when holding/using it either. (I am tall tho, so I do have longer fingers.) I can't imagine if you've been comfortable with previous Notes that a size increase measured in millimeters is going to be a deal breaker. It can't get here fast enough for me!

How much would you pay? Because every flagship over the next year will be at or near 900-1000. Even mid rangers have krept over the $500 mark. Not so mid range anymore.

I'm curious about how much is to much for a smartphone. I remember saying that I would never pay more that $500 for any device...LOL, we see how that has turned out...LOL

She must have really small hands. I like the bigger size. I wasn't sure at first when the Note line started and I liked the idea of the spen, but now I wouldn't switch unless I had to.

Just wait for a buy one get one or other major sale. Samsung phones should never be bought at full retail imo since we know they'll be available for 50% or more discount within the first 2-3 months. Also the "free gifts" value should be subtracted from the purchase price. If it's $1000, you'll be able to get it with a little patience for $400-$500 or 2 for $1000 and then you just don't open one of the boxes and sell it as new in unopened box.

If you have a Note 4 right now, you should be fine. The Note 4 is huge by today's standards.
Gets a slim case as well, unless you're a total klutz. The case will help you hold it more securely. Thicker cases are for people who drop their phone a lot or are careless. Even with thick cases, one drop can spell disaster.
I have a Note 4 for work. It's fine for what it does. But, I can't imagine it being my main phone. No more OS updates for it, either. That's something to keep in mind as well.

Just be smart and be patient and wait for the sales. They are getting away with high prices because of things like the jump program which equates to a rent phone program, or the DPP. If people had to cough up the $1,000 up front, I think phone buying would go down, easier to just make it part of your cell bill.

I think I'm going to start waiting for the sales instead of Pre-order, I will miss the excitement of Pre-order, but I will save a lot of money by waiting. If I would have had that kind of thinking with the note 7, I would have missed out on that headache, although I did do good getting extra promos, it was still a big headache.

Looks same size as the 8+. Sans the pen, the Note 8 almost seems nearly arbitrary compared to the 8+.

I agree fully.. you just need patience and to keep a close eye on the deals
