Is the power button broken?

So I found a Droid x2 in my sister-in-law's old phone box. She didn't know if that was one she had, or it was someone gave her because it was water damaged(She's in the middle of a move, she doesn't know where anything is). It has no battery. So I plugged it into a charger. It flashes the Motorola logo, and goes to the battery screen. Since there is no battery in there, it just shows question mark. So I put in my battery from my Droid X.
Since the power button is broken, I have to plug into a charger to get it to turn on. It flashes Motorola logo. It shows battery charging icon. But when I hit the power button, nothing happens, no matter how hard I push my thumb down. Can I plug into my computer and make it turn on that way? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S. When I took my battery out of my droid X, it showed charging at 58%. When I plugged it into the X2, it said 80%. Don't know if it means anything. Just thought i would mention that.

If the battery has juice, no need to complicate things and plug it in. Just try and turn it on. If it turns on, you know it works, if it wont turn on, you know it is most likely busted.

Wait, in the Thread title you asked if the power button is broken, but, then you say it is. Which is it? If the power button is broken, you are hosed (as far as I know). If it works, and, you can turn it on with a charged battery, you are good to go, if you can't, the I think you are hosed.
