Android Device Manager can wipe it (like a factory reset. Reporting it to your carrier will put it on the blacklist (if you're in the US) and the hone can't be used on any US carrier. (Android Device Manager can also locate the phone if it's on, or show you the last place it was when it was turned off. Screen print that for the police report.)
