Is there a way to change audio recording settings for android s6 firmware?

When I record video using a streaming service the results have clipped audio. These are drumming vids.

I noticed this is since a recent firmware update. Previous to the update the audio compression was pretty good when exposed to loud frequencies. Now since the update it clips and distorts.

So is there an app for overriding the firmwares audio compression?

I would expect this to be a setting in the app, not the firmware.
Unfortunately, I would also expect most apps to be missing this important feature.
