Android Central Question

I have several apps that I frequently use (such as Facebook, BlueMail, etc). I want to keep these apps, but I do not want them to run in the background. I know how to stop the app, but it restarts. I do no want to disable or uninstall the apps because I use them often. I just want to prevent them from starting on their own. I check these apps when I want to use them, and do not need them to continuously update data in the background.

Is there a way to keep wanted apps from opening and running on their own?

Android is designed to run like this and it helps things run more efficiently.

With Android, RAM uses the same amount of power regardless of how full it is. Apps sent to the background are held dormant in RAM to maintain their states, but they are effectively "paused" and not using any CPU power. This way, when you switch back to an app, the OS just pulls it from the background to pick up where it left off. This is much quicker and battery efficient than initializing the apps from scratch.

Because of this, Android will work to fill the RAM with your moist commonly used apps. If you force close them, they may be initialized again in the background to be ready for you to use again. By constantly force closing them (either manually or using memory management apps), you are working against the OS and causing increased power consumption.

Welcome to Android Central! This thread was moved from the Android Apps forum to the General Help forum, since the former is intended for developers to promote their apps.

What you're asking runs counter to how Android is designed, and "RAM booster" apps that try to keep RAM empty and prevent apps from opening automatically tend to cause worse performance and potentially more battery drain. It probably makes more sense just to restrict the background data usage of those apps. Go to Settings>Apps, select one of those apps, then Data Usage, then Restrict Background Data.

i don't think there is a way because removing the background service will be like disabling the app and you said you don't want that + your user exp will become unbearable every time you open facebook it will start loading a tonne of data to cover what was missed
