Is there a way to NOT have notification sounds interrupt music?

I would prefer to just hear the notification and the music at the same time and not temporarily cut out the music while the notification sound plays. Is this an option?

This might be weird, but I want the opposite. I need an app that stops/pauses the music when Navagation(google maps) is announcing the next turn. Right now both Navagation voice and music streaming are on the same output and speak over each other, so I can't hear my podcast when the navigation announces. in the past (pre-lollipop) the media app will pause until navigation is silent again, and then resume, that way i dont miss a thing.

So I was actually getting ready to post about this. Switched over to lollipop in May and I noticed that when I am driving the music lowers instead of pausing my music. This has been frustrating as sometimes I miss the favorite parts of the songs( beat dropping, or line), or now audiobooks, and lectures while driving. Especially problematic when the exit has a long title and or turns are in short succession.

Is there a way to get it to pause instead of lowerin
