I have a local business saved as a contact. The other day I was on the phone with them. I needed to fax something to them, and they asked if I had their fax number. I wasn't sure, so I wanted to double check. I was unable to find a way to view the contact details for the person I was calling. If I press the menu key, I was able view all contacts and search for any particular contact, but no option to quickly view the details of the person I'm calling.
Has anyone figured out how to do this if this option is available on our phone?

i had this exact same issue yesterday...
dialed the number and needed the associated extension numbers, but could not get to them while in the call.
had to hang up, memorize the extension and redial.
would also love to know if there is a solution.

I have no problem at all going into the contact app while in a phone call. EDIT: sorry,, I re read the post and realized what you really were asking about. That Is an interesting question,, I am going to fiddle around with that and
See if I can come up with anything.
Note 2,,ITS TRUE, SIZE IS EVERYTHING.

Looks like within a call, you must search for the contact, no immediate link to them while connected. Would be a nice feature.

I would assume that you would put the call on speaker, hit home button, and then go to contacts. I routinely look stuff up while i'm on a phone call.

There doesn't seem to be a quick way to get to the contact details of the person you're talking to. You can quickly view they're information within the text message app, but not the phone app. After you hang up, then you're presented with the option to view their contact info.

yes but you can put the call on speaker and then hit the home button, keep talking while you do other things. Such as go into the app drawer and select contacts and search for the contact you want info for.

I understand it's possible to to do what you've stated.
In my situation I did have the caller on speaker. This is the question I was asking from my original post...

Since Samsung seem as though this feature isn't all that important, I came across a 3rd party app that can.
DW Contacts & Phone & Dialer creates a floating widget that allows you to quickly go to the person's contact details during a phone call. It has some other cool features as well . It allows you to customize what items you want displayed in the widget. You can minimize it, and drag and move it around during a call.
I went ahead and got the paid version because the app has a ton of features, as well as supporting the developer.

I actually moved my widget on top of the image icon of the Samsung dialer. Since the image does nothing when you press it, I added the option for the floating widget to show the contact image, as well as other detail info. If I click on the icon that looks like a person's head, it will take me directly to that person's contact details.
