Is there an app for detecting defective apps?

I just rooted my phone today with SuperSU. Before rooting, my phone would just shut off at random. I'd like to know what's causing it. Is there an app for detecting faulty apps?

Not that I am aware of. Have you tried to clear cache in recovery?

I would like to know the same thing. Why can't there be an app that detects what caused a crash and explain it in plain simple English so I can know what app or file to delete?

You might try a logcat with a log file for showing last activities before shut off.
I'm not an expert on logcat, but even without expert knowledge I see in the log familiar app names. The log has time stamps ... you'd know the exact time of the chrash. So looking on the time stamps there might be a chance for something to see that you can link to the crash.
It's not a sure chance, but it's chance you might try :)

Edit:
There is an example of log that uncovered the cause of one of these unwanted push notifications ads.
VIEW dat=market://details?id=com.game.zombielands&referrer=utm_source%3DGOKeyboard_Notification%26utm_medium%3DNotification%26utm_campaign%3Dzombielands_ads

As you see in this phone logging, the ad is "Zombie Land" and the app which pushed the ad in the notification bar is "Go Keyboard".
