Hi there,

Is there an app that can automatically reduce video size (and quality) when sending a video in an MMS or email the same way the phone can reduce picture size automatically?

I know that we can chose to record in a lower quality before sending, but I often don't know if I am going to send until after the fact.

Thanks,
Naa

How about recording it in high res and if you decide to mms it, use the built in video maker to reencode and compress it? When you go to export the clip, you have the option of 176x144 to 1280x 720. The lowest one should work with mms.

Hmm, even a 17 sec clips recorded at 1280x720 and then reduce to 176 x 144 is still 1.9 mb...too big for mms. You might have to recompress it a couple of time to get it small enough.

I was hoping for a direct drop and go solution, but anything that works is appreciated. Thanks!

Just saw your edit. I hope someone can figure this out. It's one of those few things the apple phone can do easily that we can't.

Thanks all!

Unfortunately, GO SMS still tells me the files are too large to send, so no dice there, but thanks for the suggestion.

And since Sprint changed something with their network, I only get 6kbs at my office, so I'll have to download the other solutions this evening when I leave. Vidtrim looks promising.

You have the same phone as me so this is really just a settings issue. I have my camera set to take pictures at 2.4 mega pixels. What is your camera set at?

Also within Go SMS I've set the maximum size for MMS attachments to be 1M. You should set yours to the maximum that is appropriate for your systems.

Sending pictures isn't a problem. Pretty much any program I've used can reduce picture files. My issue is trying to reduce video files. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Mine is set the same.

But all but the shortest of video clips is still larger than this, so this still doesn't allow me to send video clips.

Thanks though.

I use an app called video compress (few bucks on Google play), and it does great job at reducing a video size for MMS.
