Is there an update for the Sony Xperia Z3?

I have an unlocked Z3 (D6603) that was purchased direct from Sony. I am on firmware build 23.0.A.2.93 and I know there is a new version. When I check via the phone it says up to date so last night I tried via PC Companion and it gave the same result = Up to date..

I know there is a new version that fixes some bugs and improves on the phone so I'd like to have it but I guess for some odd reason I can't.

Anyone have suggestions? Oh, I am in the United States if that matters and the phone is on AT&T (that should not matter)

Thanks!

I think everyone else has it.. I can't remember the version number but from reading online it's already out.. Maybe not? What version are you on?

Thanks

That your device is from network provider makes big difference.
All Sony devices (dont know about others) has SI number, which says fo which region it was made (different law) or which network provider sold it.

When Sony is makeing new updates time when update will be available for the device depends on SI number.

Additionaly when ur phone is from network provider, provider needs time to add his bloatware, which makes waiting longer

Ofc u can flash ftd with unbrande rom using flashtool and get updates when Sony made them available for users, w/o need to wait for provider

As I stated in the 1st post my phone is NOT from a network provider.. It's an unlocked device purchased direct from Sony...

Ahh, ok. My mistake. However u can try to check if ur SI number got new update.

SI number should be under battery (hard to check), in build prop (root needed) or on box

I have an unlocked Z3 bought directly from the Sony store in Canada and have not received any update. Sony had tweeted that they will begin the Lollipop rollout early 2015 (so probably within the next 2 months) so might as well wait for that one. Updates tend to fix/improve some things and at the same time screw up something that worked perfectly fine before. Just be patient, you're not missing much.

I am NOT talking about Lollipop as I can care less about it as I have 5.0.1 on my Nexus 5 and 5.0 on my Moto X (2014) and Lollipop is nothing to jump up and down over in my opinion..

I have a very weak LTE signal and I am hoping the update that is floating out there will help with it. The update I am talking about is 23.0.1.A.5.77.

As far as being patient goes, I generally don't care when an update comes and I don't obsess over them like some do BUT I have 30 days to decide if I want to keep or return the Z3. If my very, very, very weak LTE signal is not solved it will be going back..

My hope is that the update has a new radio and / or tweaks the LTE settings.. If not and if my horrible signal strength continues then it will be on it's way back to Sony.

It seems that there is no update for your region (or region where phone is oeiginally slld)

Only way is to wait or flash firmware with different si number

Thanks and yeah.. I saw that on a Sony Firmware site. The problem is that I don't want to do anything to the phone that will prevent Sony from accepting it back if I need to return it. I guess I will wait it out and if I don't solve my LTE signal issue in a few weeks then I'll just return it..

Thanks!

When u flash other fw it will still be official fw, so they should take it back.

Additionaly u can make copy of rom u have now as ftf and if update wont help u can return to the "original" fw and give them back how u get it

Okay thanks! I might give it a go later and see if the new update helps. At least this way I will know instantly after the update as to if I will keep the Z3 or not..

A side issue of the bad LTE signal strength is that it's KILLING my battery.. I might download later, flash it and see.. Maybe I will call Sony 1st and see what they say as I don't want to have them reject a return..

Again, thanks!

I too have the unlocked D6603 direct from Sony. Still no update. Is using the flash tool the only way or just play the waiting game?

There should ne update, at least for all unbranded models, however there is a lot of them, so it can take time.

Usimg flashtool is fastest and (for now) only way for this who didnt get uodate.

And u need to use flashtool, withaout space, emma flash tool (with space) is sonys app only for devices with unlocked bootloader

Mine is the unlocked version that I purchased direct from Sony and it doesn't have any of that T-Mo bloat on it..

Update has nothung to do with LTE radio on phone. Ever hear Google? It'll tell you the latest update and what it contains. I've got it and it's nothing major.
