Is there any way to view last photo thumbnail/access gallery while in camera?

I am using the stock camera and miss the option to see the last thumbnail and access the gallery like I had on my Galaxy S5. Frequently I am not even sure if a photo took if I have the phone on silent. Is there any solution?
