Is there anyway to access files if my phone won't boot?

anyway to access files if phone wont boot

My boyfriend has the Xperia z1, unfortunately he dropped it into grease and the phone is no longer able to hold a charge. Is there anyway to access files on the phone without it powering on?

You would need it to power on in order to access the internal files. Will it turn on if it is plugged in to the wall charger?
