Need some shopping and sorta technical help. I like the samsung focus but need to stay with T-mobile. The SGS4g seems to be nearly the same phone, just more money on the aftermarket. But with SGSIII looming, and who knows which handsets will come with 3.0 or 4.0, I'm sorta frozen. Budget is around +/-$200 and I'm quite comfortable shopping Ebay as I buy and sell a lot on there [I do PC tech work etc].

Is this handset as good as it gets around that price level?
Is Gingerbread stable? I realize a lot of people post their woes-only on the forum but I'm wondering... Gingerbread did not go well on some of the LG handsets and others - maybe not worth the upgrade?

thanks for any advice you can give

My wife has this phone and has had some problems with it. Her phone has been subject to random reboots (but she may just have a dud).

My biggest gripe with the phone is the small internal storage. This phone only has 512MB internal storage for apps. If you don't root, a decent chunk of this is taken up by bloatware, so you need to manage your app storage more carefully than I would like. Installing on the SD card is great when apps allow it, but more often than not you don't have that option.

Depending on your location, the T-Mo 4g may not really blow you away.

Maybe check out a Mytouch 4G for a similarly priced handset?

Gingerbread is actually pretty stable. I picked this phone up for $140 no contract and its been awesome! I have MIUI and besides the ringtone issue, its perfect. I have no lag, fast internet and lots of free memory since most apps can be installed onto the SD card. If you can get one for under $200, that works perfect and is in good condition, I definetly advise that you take it.

i would wait to see what is coming up. i personally didnt like this phone due to the lack of internal memory (512mb is an fing joke), gps issues, and the phone lagging lot. i have a g2x and have been happy with it (ive rooted it and run custom roms on it) or the mytouch 4g was really good phone too. i would just pass on the gs4g, you wont be happy with it in the long run
