Hey guys, I have a verizon galaxy s6 edge plus on 6.0.1 marshmallow. I have been fighting battery the whole time I owned this phone. I recently saw some other Edge +'s getting around 5 hours of SOT when I barely manage 2. do I have a defective phone possibly?
Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Only knowing the screen-on time isn't enough to make a determination. There are many factors that can contribute to battery drain.

Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

You might have to install a 3rd party battery monitor, like GSam Battery Monitor, to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.

Remember that this is an independent community forum, so responses don't always happen right away. Give it at least a day or so for someone to reply. If you don't get a reply, you can always "bump" your thread (but not more than once per 24 hrs). Thanks!

Alright will do tomorrow. Today I managed 2:15 hours but I still hear my friends using note 5's getting 5+. It's just odd that they run the same hardware but mine is so bad

Did you try the link to my guide in my previous post? If it's not letting you post the images, you might have to get 10 posts under your belt first.

Cell standby is proportionately high, and the current cell signal at the time of the screenshots was fairly poor. If it's like that for much of the battery charge, that could contribute to battery drain. Since Samsung phones generally don't include a cell signal strength indicator in the battery stats (from what I've seen on the forums), you could install GSam Battery Monitor to get that information.

There's a battery graph that also shows cell signal strength -- show us that (after charging up to 100% and then using it normally down to 20-30%).

Oh okay, I forgot I did a factory reset and never installed it. I'll have to charge it back up. However, over a 4 hour period, it's only consumed 31 mAh and had a total connection time of 19 seconds I've had 1-3 bars all morning thus far

As suspected, cell signal strength, is mostly middling to poor, so that's probably a big reason why you're seeing the battery life that you do. If you're able to use the phone in an area with good signal for a whole charge cycle, that would be an interesting comparison. Or you could try using the phone on Airplane Mode for a whole cycle, but I'm not sure how feasible that is.

If battery life was dramatically better, then it would strongly suggest a cell signal issue. (Battery life is better anyway on Airplane Mode, but the improvement wouldn't be as great if you had good cell signal to begin with.)

I have also noticed my cell status in the status bar is still active when wifi is on?? Is that contributing too?

The cell reception refers to your voice signal as well. If the cell signal is poor, that can still impact battery even with wi-fi on, because the phone is still trying to latch onto the cell signal for calls. If I know I'm going to be in an area of very poor cell reception for a while that also has wi-fi, I'll turn on Airplane Mode, and then turn on wi-fi after that.

Please check if this screen on time is normal or not? The screen was on continuously from 100% to 15% on 50% brightness and on default settings with power saver mode OFF. Please comment on this. Thanks

5-6 hours is usually the sweet spot for stock batteries. Your battery is performing very well.
