Is this malware? Wallpaper? App?

[Android Central Question]

Hi. My friend Samsung phone has this programme running each time he unlocks his phone. Not sure if it's wallpaper, malware or an app. He has many apps, including game apps downloaded by his grandsons. So, trying to help him resolve the problem by removing this annoying program running in the background before doing a factory reset. The programme first appear a trash bin and then do that optimization and then finally a tick appear. All of it purple in colour. I wish I can upload the video. Anyway, I can't seem to find anything in the app list so I'm not sure where else can I go in the Setting to search for it. Please help. Thanks.

"This programme" doesn't give us anything to go on. It's more likely to just be crapware than malware though.

Welcome to the forums. Ask your friend if they installed any cleaner/booster/optimiser app. If that's the case tell them to uninstall it and see if the issue persists.

Also see if it goes away in safe mode then you know its a 3rd party app

Welcome to Android Central! When they see it, tell them to tap the App Overview button and see if it shows up there with an app title.
