Is Your Inspire Dropping Calls?

I used to have Motorola Razr (remember the state of the art phone no so long ago:) ) with AT&T and about a couple of months back I upgraded to Samsung Focus running WP7. I used it a couple of months and it was pretty good, but the lack of choices in Windows 7 marketplace was a big bummer. And then Costco offered (still offering) HTC Inspire 4G for only $20 for upgrades, and since I was still within 90 day period, I jumped on the opportunity and got it replaced.

I love the phone, its speed, combined with 4G speeds of over 2Mbps that I am getting, it is awesome. The only issue is that this thing is dropping calls really bad. At my work, although some spots are pretty deep, this phone either drops the call or the other party is not able to hear me. In the very same spots the Razr and the Focus used to work just great. And there are 3 bars displaying so it does not appear to be the signal issue. It has dropped calls even while I am at my home.

This is unbelievable for a phone that is so advanced. Is anybody else having this issue? I know AT&T is notorious of dropping calls, but not in my area. I haven't experienced any such issue until I got this phone. So it has to be the phone. The question is, if it is a design issue or it is a bad unit.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

i actually have never dropped a call yet. ive had this phone for 32 days.
i know its weird, but just try changing your sim card. that fixed my GPS problem.

That's a good point. I have a very old SIM. I should have them setup the SIM that came with this phone.

I, was initially worried about signal quality. I switched from Nokia72: which has superb signal reception and call quality. Overall, after a few days of making calls, I really like the Inspire. The subjective call quality is about as good, though the speaker sounds a bit more harsh. Nokia shows more bars, but that could be meaningless. I haven't yet dropped a call or lost a data connection. Conclusion: slightly worse speaker quality, but so far problem-free connectivity.

Call quality is amazing. But I have been having dropped call issues the past few days where I answer, and I hear nothing on the other end. Happened 4 times to me, and its annoying. Hasn't happened since, so not sure what to say. I'm already past my 30 days, so if anything else, its back to my iPhone.

Call quality is really good. Dropped a couple calls in my home as when I am inside my home I have 1 or 2 bars. But have not dropped any outside of my home yet. Loving this phone though.

Just for the hell of it I went to AT&T store and asked them to switch out my 3g sim for a 4g sim. No difference in call quality or speeds at the time.

My call quality had been quite good. Have had two dropped calls, ironically both while on the line with AT&T with billing issues.... and no, they didn't call back.

I used to have a Samsung Impression that rarely dropped a call. Now that I have my new high-tech Inspire, calls get dropped quite often (especially if I'm at home)...how can this happen????

I switched from iPhone to Inspire about 2-1/2 months ago. I have had so many dropped calls that now my friend won't even answer the phone because he's sick of the calls dropping every time we talk. I went to AT&T and their solution was to give me the Microcell. Calls actually got worse after I got the Microcell. Now people tell me I've gone digital, they can't hear me, and the calls drop about every half hour or less. If I get up and move about 10 feet, the call drops. If I pick the phone up, the call drops. Just now, I laid the phone down so I could plug the earbuds in, and watched the call drop. I don't think this is an AT&T problem, I think it's a phone problem. My iPhone never dropped calls.

I have the same problem, dropped calls and when I answer I don't hear anything frequently. The speed is not fast compered to my old Samsung U700 - 4 years ago I had at 2 Mb with U700 and now my average speed is much less. CC care said - several times - I should have good reception and fast internet.( new SIM, etc) I don't. Fighting with them. Crying back my old U700 or I have to change the ATT. The service is sux - Washington DC are. I have no that kind of low service. They should go to Europe to learn - a lot!

I have had my inspire for two weeks and have been dropping calls at work and home, never dropped calls in these locations with any other phone. as much as I like the inspire I am going to have to exchange it for a phone that does not drop calls.

I got the phone the day it came out back in Feb. and have never had a dropped call or bad call quality. HUGE change from my old iPhone that used to drop calls every day.
