Is your Snapdragon S8/S8+ Behind on Security Updates?

AC Community: Has anyone received security updates beyond August for the Snapdragon (G955U) S8+?

I have been manually checking for updates for the past month and a half and...nothing.

Just wondering if we are all in the same boat or if I need to Factory Reset to see if they will come through.

I have a US unlocked S8+ and a T-Mobile Note 8 and both are on August 1 patch.

I read on SamMobile forums from a moderator that Samsung usually releases patches/updates almost every month after a new product release but slows down updates right before a major software release. He seemed to think Samsung might not release any or one software patch before releasing Oreo in late December/early January. I'm not 100% certain but I remember receiving software updates for my previous G935F Exynos S7E almost every month, even last December when Nougat released. It's hard to believe Samsung would not update the S8 series until Oreo release.

Security Updates and "feature updates" need to remain separate. Samsung is basically saying: "we are not going to be releasing any security updates until our next major OS release"... Unacceptable.

"Buy a Pixel if you're that concerned about security updates" - I'm sure that's what many readers would say but when the biggest manufacturer/seller of Android devices doesn't protect their customers by releasing security patches in a timely manner, how are we confident that every single purchase, post, view isn't being compromised.

I know I'm over exaggerating a bit, but security updates are not feature updates. They are instrumental. Will I keep using my Samsung GS8+ even though it hasn't been patched in 3 months. Yes.

But I shouldn't have to. Patch your OS Samsung.

Verizon S8+ is on October 1 security patch.

Wanted to ask u if u experience micro lag while exiting apps which are specifically in the main page of the home screen...cuz for me it happens don't know why only main home page apps tho....and if I open those same apps in the app drawer and close them then they close normally with no lag...so just wanted to know if it's the same for u since we have the same phone versions

Unlocked Canadian S8+, got the October update late last week.

So yes, The snapgradoing S8 is getting updates. Blame US carriers.

Yep... AT&T has held up both the September and October updates for their locked S8 and S8+ phones.

That means both the Bluetooth and Krack wi-fi vulnerabilities have gone un-patched.

I'm with Verizon and we received the Oct update just a few days before Halloween.

Turns out, Samsung put the KRACK fix in the new November update coming out soon. That means the carriers will (hopefully) follow on in another week or two.

It also turns out that Samsung is rolling several updates into this upcoming update for the unlocked variants.

My two SM-G950U1's are still on the August update also. All of the equivalent carrier branded phones have received a couple updates since our unlocked phones have and there are a couple of serious security flaws that are in need of patching.
