Thought I didn't like Samsung cause of Bixby button and you couldn't remove unwanted apps.
Now Google seems to not want you to be able to remove articles for you.

And even though you have removed reminders off.

A lot of this is showing up in the pixel charger.

What else is Google doing to me and with my information .

Do big companies try to cut their own throat like Facebook.

Re: Thought

I am sorry I don't understand your complaint.

What specifically are you wanting to turn off? Perhaps you could be more descriptive and we can provide some insight to a solution.

Are you talking about the Google Now feed? Or Google News app? Both gives you options to remove topics that you don't want to see again.

I do not want any news feeds period.
Even turning it on.
When you are not paying attention, it has the button for show .
Not to mention no LED's.

When the phone was in the pixel charger, it brought up what it says was reminders ftom years ago.
I had more control of this on my Samsung phone.

Already thinking about sending this phone back and it's been a little over a week.

The Samsung phone doesn't have a Pixel Stand type of information screen so not sure how you had more control there.

IIRC you can disable the feed by holding down on a home screen in a blank spot then going to Home Settings. From there you can toggle it. As for stuff on the Pixel stand I would suggest checking that setting area.

I have news feed turned off. I have Google Now off. I get emails and messages I don't want but that's not Google's doing.

If you've only had Samsung phones you need to learn about Android.

Oh boy... You have a lot of catching up to do about the internet and your personal information...

Can't delete

So on the Pixel phone.
YouTube had gone to _ell with the subscription.
And you can't delete YouTube either.
What a mess.

Re: Can't delete

YouTube app came on my pixel 3 XL.
It's full of ads. I had to go in and try to delete like 133 ad subscriptions.
It wouldn't let me do out of all.
I tried to disable it.
Now I want to delete it.
Can see Google must of bought YouTube and messed it up.
Didn't have this problem on my Samsung phone.

Google has owned YouTube since 2006. So, no.

Re: Can't delete

YouTube serves up ads intermittently if you don't subscribe to YouTube Premium. This is normal across all devices, not just the Pixel 3. If you don't want to see ads, subscribe.

Or are you talking about popup ads? If you have popup ads, that's not from YouTube or Google -- you probably installed some app that includes adware.

Re: Can't delete

Will not pay for YouTube ever.
Got it to turn off.
It don't show up in my apps unless I go into settings
But I would like it off my phone if this is how YouTube wants to play.
Won't use youtube anymore.

I have to ask -- You say you used other Android phones but a lot of your complaints are there on other Android phones but you are just noticing them now?

So disable YouTube. It's a preinstalled app, so you can't uninstall it unless you root the phone. If you don't like how Google plays, then you may need to consider a different platform.

Just as an aside, it's challenging to find any video service that is truly free and ad-free. Companies rarely do anything for free -- there has to be something in it for them. And "free movie download" sites violate copyright law, and are also great places to get malware, in case that's an option you were considering

Makes you want to throw the phone against the wall like a kid.
Already done that with my S8+
Cause Bixby pissed me off.

Used my buddies S7E this morning.

The ads have been around for a long time -- it isn't new. I am actually surprised you are just noticing it. Most services that are free to users have ads... that is how the entire internet works :P.

Why do you think ads are BS? How else do you think a company like Google can monetize a service like YouTube?

You can typically skip them after about 5 seconds, which is better than other streaming services that often require you to sit through the same annoying 20-30 second ad multiple times within a program.
