Issue with HTC Sync?

I have installed the latest version of HTC Sync (3.0.5606 from their site) and I am running Windows Vista 64 bit. When I try to use the program with the phone plugged in I get a Microsoft Runtime Error, it tells me there is no device connected and the program closes. I have tried a bunch of different ways of plugging in the phone first, start the program first, etc and nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? HTC's site was of little help. I have also tried using Compatibility Mode for Windows XP and run as an Administrator. I'm gonna try uninstalling, redownloading and reinstalling but thought I would post up here.

Thanks-Dan

I'm having the same issue MD except that I don't get a MS Runtime Errort just tell. Is me no device is connected.
I did notice that there is a USB option that you have to change from it's default "Charging Only" to "USB Sync", but even after I did that, it wouldn't recognize the device. (Not sure where to access it outside of after you connect the USB Cable a little USB Icon shows up at the top of the screen on your phone. Press that and it'll give you the options.)
Let me know if it makes it work for you.

Yeah, I tried that. I'm thinking the problem lies with the 64 bit Windows version, I've seen it before.

There is a new version 3.0.5617 out. Don't know if its on the HTC site yet but my version auto updated. You might want to check for updates within the app and see if it does anything for your issues.

Yes. And this version installed new USB drivers.

Depending upon what you need, I think you can easily find something better than HTC Sync. Coming from a Nokia syncing anything and everything I wanted, when I wanted, how I wanted,[1] with Nokia PC Suite, HTC's app was a huge disappointment.

[1] Over Bluetooth every hour or so at home.

Syncing music: I use MediaMonkey for my iPods, works superb with my Amaze. Paid-for app, I recommend it.

For Outlook syncing, Fielston Software's gSyncit does all that I want. I use Google Apps on my domain, so I could the cord and simply sync my Outlook data to my site, and let the Android Gmail app sync over the air.

Notes, I'm test driving Evernote. So far, very impressive. gSyncit will sync to Google Docs as well.

Files ... Dropbox seems to be the file sync service of choice.

With that ... HTC Sync was an unwelcome house guest, and was given the boot.

HTH....
