Issue with odd Halo or flaring with photos

Looks like people who complain are using Pixel XL.

Anyone having this issue with the regular smaller Pixel?

I had one picture that had the flare and I had the regular Pixel. The foster from the camera wasn't that bad at all.

I have a 32 gb Pixel XL and I cannot replicate this on my device.... I have took several pics at light sources, even several at the sun in different positions - so maybe it is a fluke on some phones....

So now I am wondering if Google is gonna ever get around to implementing their "fix" for this. I've been patiently waiting now for about 6 weeks ..

Mine still has it. Although a lot less noticeable than others. I am curious if this has something to do with the camera being flush with the back? Then I think how that would not really make a whole lot of sense. So I have no idea what exactly causes it. My wife's iPhone 7 does not have this issue. I can replicate it with my Pixel but cannot get it at all with her iPhone. It's weird for sure.

I read somewhere online that Google is repositioning the camera in the housing to stop the lens flare. Can anyone with a just received phone confirm this?

I think they said they will not fix it in hardware wise, only software fixes will be done.

Got mine yesterday and still have the lens flare and halo effect.

Granted, I had to intentionally produce this by aiming the camera in the right direction, but none the less it's still here.

I don't think it'll ever be fixed completely. I did read that there was an update to the camera a few days ago that is a step in minimizing it. But I don't see it disappearing any time soon, unfortunately.

I don't think that update did anything for the Pixel. I always thought it was going to be a firmware/OS update coming from Sony through Google, to help the HDR processing, but I could be wrong. Is it actually supposed to come in the form of a camera app update?

At this point I would take any improvement , the only difference I see now is that it is taking HDR longer to process than before the update ...

I honestly have no clue right now. I just read online that there was an update to the camera and it supposedly made it marginally better. I'm not sure if this is something that can really be fixed. But I did hear that Google was going to attempt to have HDR+ do the work in the background to remove it somewhat.

Unless they snuck in some "fix" without noting in in the change log, it seems the last update wasn't it..
