Issue with Samsung earphones that came with s7 edge

My earphones were working fine until about a minute ago...
Now when I press either the up or down volume buttons, the volume is turned down. I cannot hear out of the right earphone (the one with the control panes) unless I hold the 'select' button, the one that isn't the volume ones.
PLEASE HELP!

Something tells me that there's a broken wire, so the volume buttons both hit the same function, the right earphone is ungrounded until you hold the select button. It costs more to fix than to replace.
