Issue with Youtube auto rotate

Not sure if this is included in the latest update.

But moving from my old fold 2 to fold 3 this is extremely annoying.

When going into Youtube full-screen, the phone would auto rotate to landscape, regardless of whether the main rotate was activated or not - now you have to manually put rotate on before this happens.

The old way was great if you're lying down etc as it'd just stay in landscape mode.

Anyone have any thoughts? I've tried good lock, bixby routines etc but these affect the main app, rather than just the full screen element.

Hmmm I don't remember now ha.. But if I'm in full screen auto rotates but I first for into YT I hit the expand...

Yeah mine doesn't it'll stay portrait until I manually hit the rotate button in the top bar then turn the phone!

So annoying

Did you try to clear data and cache on YT?

Maybe change the aspect ratio in YouTube app in labs settings

So, mine works as intended based on what you explained. I am not sure what makes it work and what does not. Have you tried to clear not only the Cache, but the Data for this app and sign back in to see if that helps at all?

Just remember that wiping the Data puts the app back to factory default, so settings will need to be re-applied.

I have searched high and low to find a solution on this but I'm having the exact issue. Lying down watching a video mean you can't have auto rotate on or it goes into portrait. The manual orientation button is useless as it turns the whole phone landscape until you turn it off again. No rotation apps seem to work. I cannot for the life of my find a solution and it's REALLY irritating.

Happened to me too. I found out that it is caused by the Puffin browser which goes into landscape mode when playing videos on full screen. I can fix YouTube's strange behavior by clearing its app data, but it occurs again every time I open the Puffin browser.
