AC Question

For a few weeks my Nexus was freezing and in case this was a software issue in the ned I did a factory reset. It carried on working and then freezing for a while but eventually stopped all together. Then about 10 days ago I noticed a single almost invisible crack right down and across the screen. No idea how this happened but it's now completely frozen on the google startup screen.

I'd like to get a new screen fitted but I'm unable to clean my data off the nexus and as I often access say email and bank accounts on it on my wifi I'm nervous about giving it to a repair company.

I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to wipe it? My mac can't see it as it's stuck on the google start screen.

Also, is there a way to be sure it won't get scanned or whatever for the things I mentioned above?

Thanks
