Issues Going Between WiFi and Network

I searched the forums and couldn't find this specific problem so here goes... When I'm not using WiFi I keep it turned off. If I do use it, after turning it off, I notice I can't get on the internet using Sprint's network, and the 3G icon is gone from the top of the phone. I go to Settings -> Wireless and networks, and I notice the Mobile Network box is checked, but the area is grayed out and says "Turning on..." indefinitely. So far only rebooting seems to fix the problem. This issue affects both EVOs on my account. Please, someone feel free to make me look dumb with a simple fix to this problem!

Under Mobile Network Settings, do you have "Always-on Mobile data" checked? If not, try that. Other than that, I'd look at any apps you've installed that attempt to control the network settings.

Oh, one other thing: Are you using a task killer? If so, it's probably killing something that 3G needs.

I have a similar problem, but it seems more random. I had unchecked “always on mobile data", but rechecked it after I started having these issues. I find that turning on airplane mode then turning it of resets my radios and I'm good. I would really like a better solution though, if someone has it.

Make sure your wifi is set to never sleep:

Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy > Never.

It'll still occasionally disconnect. When it does, manually reconnect by opening your wifi settings page to see the list of nearby access points, tap on yours, then tap connect on the popup.

Just noticed mine was doing that. Reboot fixed it, but I need to try to find what app was causing that.

Hi guys, I kinda have the same problem it seems at home. I have wifi on and sleep policy set to never, and I will be connected fine then i'll look at phone at random times and I notice that i'm off wifi and it says 3G. So I have to go into the Wifi settings and reconnect to my access point. Does anyone know why this might be happening? If i'm connected I don't expect to be disconnected for no reason. Is this a known problem with EVO? Is anyone else experiencing this or know what it might be? I also do have always on mobile checked, but that shouldn't matter.

I haven't experienced this at all, nor do I recall seeing any threads about this. I don't think I'd call this a known problem, nor a common one.
