Sprint Galaxy S8 Issues with Always on Screen and controlling Samsung Music

New to this option since im coming from an s5

i have been through the settings numerous times

i have the media option on, but i cannot get the clock to switch when swiped to my audio app to use, all the time, it just randomly works 20% of the time

also the brightness is also very random with auto brightness turned both on and off

sorry if this has been asked already, but search didnot come up with a solution
