Issues with calls and 3G service

These issues have only occurred since the 2.3 update.

Every day or so, I will try to make a call and the call immediately ends, giving a call time of 0:00. It will keep doing this until I restart the phone.

Also, sometimes the 3G logo disappears and I can no longer access the internet. The only thing that corrects this is powering off the phone and turning it back on.

One of these issues seems to happen every day or two.

Any thoughts?
 
I have a similar thread with the same issue. From searching the web, it is a fairly common issue. I've seen 2 possible solutions:

1) factory reset
2) Call verizon and have tech support reset your "DMU".

I've seen a few posts that show either one of these have worked to fix the issue for some. I haven't tried either yet.
 
I have had this issue for months now on both my wifes x and mine. Her phone has been replaced and still does the something. I call tech support daily and no fixes yet. Arleast once a week they try and tell me that the tower that's 3/4 of a mile from my house is down yet we will have friends and neighbors over who are on Verizon with different phones and they will have no issues.
 
I haven't had the problems with the calls dropping, but I have had the issue where the Verizon data connection disappears and doesn't return without a reboot. Recent as of the GB update.

Had this problem with my original DroidX (2.1) and eventually the phone had to be replaced.
 
have the same issues and I hate it. What if I need to make an emergency call? Anyone test 911 when this happens on your phone?
 
Same issues here as well to the point that I've given up. I also would experience issues where texts wouldn't send until I rebooted. This phone is SO close to being perfect, but with unreliable phone calls, texting and data...well that makes it a dud. If these things all worked without issue I'd be a happy camper and wouldn't be looking to jump ship.

I've done a factory reset and I'm still having the same problem. What is DMU?
 
Been getting this too. May try a factory rest, although what will that erase exactly?

Interestingly, VZW's *228 programming number still connects even when there's no 3G/1X connection although nothing else will.
 
I contacted VZW today and they said an update is coming...no estimate as to when, but they said it was in testing....

This is good news if true. Another thing I've noticed that doesn't happen often but has occurred atleast twice to me now is when having to use the dialpad while on a call, sometimes the numbers won't register when you hit them as if the dialpad is frozen. I luckily haven't had to redial or anything, just usually have to hit another key to "unfreeze" and re-enter whatever code I was entering. This is another post gingerbread issue.

Havent tried #2, but I can verify that #1 doesnt do it. Just went thru that two days ago, still happening.
I have the exact same issue (amoung others) with vthe update, getting the immediate "call ended" msg

I am having this same issue. I am having to restart my phone atleast 5 times a day

Since the GB update, my wife's phone has been doing the restart by itself... about 4 times an hour it will randomly reboot....

I have been having issues with signal strength going from 5 bars to 0 to 1x and even when 3g is there I can not do anything with it its super slow anyone else having slow 3g problems
 
I am having these same issues all started with gingerbread update.

hopefully it is true they are working on a fix it is getting very annoying.
Usually it is atleast 2 or 3 restarts per day to keep it working.
