issues with compass

I'm getting told my compass needs adjusting having gone through the motions the figure of eight but doesn't change anything.

I've done this without a case on any suggestions at all.

It can take a while, but it helps if you 'exaggerate' the motion. What they show as 'slightly tilting' the phone on screen, just do it two-fold. I also hate that you seem to have to do calibration every 5 minutes But at least you can skip the calibration step and still get a decent readout.

Not a solution, but fyi..keep your phone away from magnets, like some docks. They don't erase data but can mess up navigation & compass. At least I think so.

There are a couple apps out there that will help with the compass and navigation issues, I use GPS Status. Ticketbabe is correct in the magnet thing: people like to use the magnetic mounts and stuff for the convenience, but it really screws up compass functions.

I don't use anything magnetic near my phone I know how they can affect electronics so I know it's not that thankfully.
