It's Cheaper to Pay T-Mo's ETF Than Wait 2 Years To Port Your #

Hey folks, I haven't posted in a while, but I discovered something very interesting and useful tonight.

Bottom line: If you're going to leave T-Mobile for another carrier, and plan to port your number, it will actually be cheaper to pay the ETF during the last 3 months of your contract, than to wait the full 2 years.

Why? I deal with Terms & Conditions a lot at work and decided to dive into T-Mobile's current T&Cs. They specifically state that T-Mo will charge you for the full month's billing cycle if you port your number, even if your contract has expired. During the last 31-91 days of your contract, your ETF is only $50. You'd pay it, plus your current month's bill in full. If you wait until your contract expires, they will not prorate your bill for the portion after your contract--you'll pay the full month's cost, which is almost certainly a good deal more than $50.

For me, my monthly bill was $90 and my contract expired in 2 weeks. I just saved mysel $40 bucks!

I sincerely hope this is able to aide someone in their lust for a new awesome phone--it did for me!

By the way, I should add: I called T-Mobile and confirmed all of this. The guy laughed and said I was the first person he's spoken to that's figured it out.

I was thinking of going to tmobile from verizon. Good to know.
