Hello,
I am considering a Nexus 4 to replace my IPhone4S. I have all my devices and media invested in apple. I.e. IPhone, MacBook, AppleTv. I do not, however, own a tablet(yet). I need to know if I am able to transfer all of my music/movies I have purchased over the years and have stored in iTunes to a Nexus 4 AND 7, as I am considering both. The music and movies are a mix of iTunes purchases an digital copies/CDs. If I am able to easily sync these devices while being able to keep iTunes on my MacBook as my main hub for media this is great. This will influence my desicion on keeping the iPhone and a eventually getting an iPad mini, or moving to a nexus 4 and eventually getting the nexus7. All while keeping the MacBook, this will not be replaced by a PC.

THANKS ALOT FOR ANY HELP :)

My iTunes library is on Google Drive and I used Music Manager to upload all my songs to Google Play. Google Play checks the iTunes folder in Google Drive, so it's always updated after I buy something in iTunes. You don't have to use Google Drive for this to work, I just didn't want my music library on a laptop.

As long as your music and such is DRM free, you can use Google's Music Manager to upload it to your Google account. It will also automatically upload any new content, so you can continue to purchase media in ITMS if you want. That's what I do. The only hiccup you might encounter is if you have m4p (protected) music files from old purchases. You used to be able to unlock these with iTunes Plus, but Apple seems to have ditched that. Now, if you have any m4p files, you probably will need to subscribe to iCloud in order to unlock them.*

*I will note that, strangely enough, a bunch of previously locked songs on my iTunes account suddenly found their way into my Google Music account over the weekend, without any effort on my part. I'm at a loss as to how this happened, as no complete albums transferred; just parts and some singles.

@cskibin: What people here have said here is true; you can get a lot of what you've bought through iTunes onto other devices. However, you can't use iTunes with anything but an iPod or iOS-based device (or an AppleTV, of course). Your best bet is to decide if you want to continue to use Apple's products and services. It's not that you can't basically manually integrate other devices with those products and services, but Apple doesn't have any interest in such interoperability, so there are no guarantees, and often this becomes a chicken-and-egg proposition.

Personally, as a Mac user since 1986, what I can tell you is that I'm pretty much fed up with Apple (and Microsoft, etc.) and so I have pretty much avoided any of Apple's e-business services (iTMS, iCloud, etc.) and just do for myself. That way, I'm not ever stuck.

In the long run, I think you'll find you are better-served by moving away from them anyhow. When it comes to the mobile market (tablets and smart phones) Apple does not have the dominance they'd like you to think they do. Moreover, this is an area in which Microsoft has absolutely *no* dominance, so... it wouldn't be hard for you to just totally jump ship to something else (Android for tablets and smart phone, maybe one day Linux for your desktop, etc.) and then you don't have to really ever worry about this crap. That's what I've been busy doing.
