Japanese Contacts on UK Phone

I did try and do a search before posting this, but couldn't find a clear answer. I have a mixture of Japanese and UK contacts on my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and the Japanese contacts will not display properly in the address book if I enter their names in Japanese text. I didn't have this problem with my iPhone as there was an option to include the "yomi" (reading) for Japanese names. However, there isn't the same option on the Z1 Compact. The only way I can get Japanese names to be listed correctly is to change the system language to Japanese. Is there another way around this? Thanks in advance
