Jelly bean keyboard

I downloaded the jelly bean keyboard and went to settings and enabled it but it still would not come up when I started a text. Any thoughts.

So in the Language and Input Settings, you've checked the box next to the JB keyboard and then clicked the Default option to set it as the default?
