I am using the Verizon Extended Battery on my Sprint Galaxy Nexus unrooted and am trying to get the best battery life. I only seem able to get 2 hours screen on time. I am wondering if juice defender will help me. I am running tests to see if it is better with or without it. I would appreciate advice for battery saving tips on this wonderful-hog-of-a-device.

Weird. I have a GSM galaxy and using only 3g all day I usually get 3 hours of screen on time. Then again a lot of things factor in to battery life. But if u have the extended battery seems u should be getting equal to or greater screen time than me.

Juice Defender works great for me.
The free version is all you really need.
When the screen is off, JD keeps the phone from trying to find a signal which is the real
battery killer.
Phone calls and texts come through just fine.
I would recommend it. You got nothing to lose. :D

JD works great for me too. I enable my free version when I'm away from a power plug for a while.

When the phone is not being used/the screen is off, JD cuts off 3G/4G & WiFi connectivity as it is not needed. This is what kills a battery. The consistent searching for a signal.
Once you wake the phone, it reconnects in about 2 seconds to allow you to start surfing the web, Google search, checking e-mail, etc.

Not sure how JD does this, but it does work. At least it does for me.

As there is a free version, it costs nothing to see if it works for you.

I have been using jd since I got my gnex a few months ago and it makes a noticeable difference. Even now after I got a airwave with full 4 bars in my room jd gives a bit more battery life. It can be annoying sometimes with certain apps not working till you turn it off but thats usually somekind of streaming app that isn't critical to be on all the time.

I assume you're referring to the Verizon 2100 mAH extended battery and not the 3800 mAH battery.

You battery usage looks pretty similar to mine and I'm a pretty heavy user.

I used to use JD and it definitely helps, but it interfers with real-time push notifications (e.g. email, facebook, etc). I decided that I'd rather get real-time notifcations and I just stay close to a charger.
