I finally decided to upgrade to Juice Defender Ultimate this morning. I'm running BAMF Forever 1.0.9.

Every time I long press on the screen and try to add JDU, it force closes HTC Sense as soon as I click on it. It will not add to my homescreen. Has anyone else experienced this? It's not a big deal if I can't add it, I just thought it was strange considering Juice Defender (regular) can be added to my homescreen just fine.

Maybe it's because I purchased JDU from the Amazon app store and regular JD from the market? Any ideas?

It could be that HTC sense senses that juice defender really sucks and is a useless app. That app eats more battery than it saves.

Yikes. Wish you posted before you purchased. I did the same last summer. Had to uninstall JD. Caused way too many problems. Try 2x Battery. It works great and is free.

I stopped using all those kinds of apps all together. I've learned that the more resources you have running the more battery drain. I think my phone is better with just auto memory and android assistant. I like auto killer also but it drained power too.

All those "battery saver" apps do is turn off your 4g/3g radio for extended periods of time, which you can do yourself with a simple data widget. Also they are a resource hog and use plenty of battery life. Not worth using at all! get an extended battery

Phones don't like battery savers. It interferes with the way they want to manage power thus resulting in worse drain.

I have an extended battery. With the way I use my phone JD works just fine and has increased my battery life.

I didn't ask if battery managers apps suck or are worth it, I asked if anyone has experienced a similar problem.

Also, I found the answer myself. It is a known issue with some HTC Sense based phones. :)

...i use Juice Defender ultimate and it does an AMAZING job at increasing my battery life.

if you set the settings up to correctly match how you use your phone you WILL notice an increase.

i went from waking up at 9am and having my phone dead by 5pm to having it last until noon the next day

this app does make a big difference, I suggest you try it on your own rather than just listen to some people hate

Uh, I tried it, stopped using it, and tried it again. No difference.

then you're doing something wrong

having 3g/wifi turned off every time your screen is off is going to save substantial battery power

This thread definitely needs to stay on topic. The OP wasnt asking for opinions on the app. He was asking if anyone had a specific problem that they were having. Probably to see if anyone found a way to fix it.

If you can't answer the question don't come into the thread being rude and inciting an argument.

Thanks.

I've tried Juice Defender only the free version and didn't see much of a change not saying it didn't help but not much. I have been using 2X Battery the free version with much better results so you might want to give it a try. Hope this helps :)

Maybe I'll try that one. I keep trying different ones for a few days to see if I can tell a difference. So far they all seem to use as much juice as they save.

I think battery savers depend on how you use your phone. Personally, I am not a very heavy user. I play a few games, make a few calls, text, and maybe watch a movie on Netflix or read a book during the day. That's assuming I'm not in class or at work. For the days where I am using the phone heavily, I tend to turn JD off because as was mentioned it just causes the phone to be stupid when you're trying to use it.

I find it to be more useful on days when the phone is idle a lot and I don't want the radios draining the battery down. I do realize I can turn the radios off myself, but what's the point when there's an app for that. :p

As an example, last night I unplugged at 9pm with 99% battery left and Juice Defender going. I woke up this morning at 7am and it still had 95% left. Usually the overnight drain on my phone without Juice Defender is 15-20% by the time I wake up.

Like others, I've used JD over the past year. IMOP, I'm still not completely clear on how all the functions work. When purchasing this app (and many others) at a premium, the least one can do is provide some sort of documentation describing exactly what each of the many functions JD does. Then I can realistically determine if it's using more "Juice" than it's saving.

Nah I would never suspect that. Same file regardless of where you buy it from (well from these 2 sources anyway)

I understand your frustration. However, in the case of task killers and JD, people equate these types of problems as the apps themselves being the source of the problem. I know I do because of the sheer quantity of threads where there's a task killer related problem. So, while I realize your question was specifically asking about specific issues with the latest updates; I think a lot of us have a natural tendency to jump to some conclusions (especially when you asked if anyone had some ideas) without the intent of being rude. More specifically, my first reaction was that the latest update is probably killing one or more HTC process that are critical for Sense to run properly. That's where these apps start to get a little dangerous. I've seen other updates of this app where it didn't necessarily cause crashing issues, but all of a sudden battery performance goes down the toilet. The last thing a lot of users point the finger at is an app that is supposed to take care of this very issue. I've asked them to uninstall it, only to have them come back and say their problem went away.

You sound like someone who has taken the time to configure the app in a way that it doesn't kill everything in site and has seen some benefit from it. To each their own.

Hey at least you sparked some discussion, responses, & the answer to your question will definitely help another JD user who happens to stumble upon this thread.

Some people don't even get that much info and are subjected to unhelpful & pointless personal attacks :)
