Inteeliarmor just started preorders for there Intelliglass Pro screen protectors. As far as Im concerned they are some of the best I have ever tried. In fact at this point they are the only brand I will use for 2d and up glass. Just to explain why I trust them. After trying 6 different other brands on my original pixel XL they had the only one that made the cut. I also loved there customer service when the shipper destroyed one of the ones I got from them.

I have their IntelliGlass on my original Pixel, and the problem with it, as it is with most screen protectors for the Pixels is that they either JUST cover the display, or the cover everything and you can't get a TPU style case on it. The IntelliGlass falls into the former category. When i installed it, I got it almost right but it just misses a sliver of the screen.

The problem I had was it was hard to align it correctly. I have the Verizon branded TGSP on my Pixel 2 right now, and while it doesn't extend past the screen at all (like the IntelliGlass on my OG Pixel) the glass surrounds the speakers, camera, and sensors. That is a lot of points to help you align the screen protector. Whereas on my IntelliGlass screen protector, the glass doesn't surround the speaker, camera and sensors, instead stopping just short of them. So it's a bit harder to align the protector than it is if it surrounds those things.

If you haven't, I would wait and see about the IntelliGlass protector for the P2, and maybe check out the Verizon branded one. It's more expensive, but I was able to align it much easier than I was able to with the IntelliGlass.

I totally get what your saying about the regular intelliglass. All the regular tempered glass ones did that, because of the rounded edges. That is why I specifically mentioned the intelliglass pro. They have the colored edges with adhesive so they stick and dont have the issue you mentioned.

Yes the first Pixel had a slight curve to the glass at the edge, BUT this curve did not start till past the visible area of the OLED screen. I was able to find one glass screen protector that actually completely covered the visible area... it stopped right at the edge but it was still completely covered and stayed on very well. I cracked that one and had to replace it and was not able to find another one that covered as well as that one did. So this is a BS claimed by the manufacturers, they just don't want to take the time to get it perfect.

Whereas with the pixel 2 XL the curve definitely starts before the edge of the screen so I'm expecting these glass screen protectors to not completely cover the visible area.

You are correct about that, I didn't notice you mentioned the Pro model. However, the problems I have seen on those style screen protectors is that they go too far and a TPU case either won't fit if the protector is installed, or it pops the protector off when trying to put the case on.

The other issue that I have seen (with the protectors that look similar to the IntelliGlass Pro with the painted borders) is that most of them cover the sensors above the top speaker (on the Pixel 2). I don't know if they're the Prox or camera IR sensors, but either way they're unacceptable.

Hopefully IntelliArmor does a better job, and they should since the phone is actually out now. Most of the ones available up until now were most likely going off of renders, which is why on some models both sensors (above the speaker and to the right of it) were covered. So it's understandable that the early models will have issues, and is a good reason to stick with the better known brands.

For keeping I'll wait until there are some concrete reviews out. The Verizon model I mentioned is on and aligned correctly. The only issue I have is the very edge of one corner isn't adhered (like 1/32"), but otherwise it works fine. With my case on, there's about a gap of 1/16"-1/8" between the edge of the protector and the case. So I'll be waiting to see if these upcoming models from IntelliGlass will have any issues with cases.

I just say that IntelliArmor has their IntelliGlass HD and Pro up for pre-order for the Pixel 2s. What troubling for the smaller Pixel 2 models is there appears to be no cutout for the sensors that sit above the upper speaker. If so that's a nonstarter. Here's a image for the IntelliGlass Pro black model for the smaller Pixel 2.

Edit: Don't know why I didn't see this earlier. The images they used for the new Pixel 2 models is actually renders for the original Pixel models. I've sent a message to IntelliArmor to see if they in fact have the cutout for the sensors, specifically the one above the speaker since that seems to be the one all these manufacturers miss. I'll post what I find out.

I tried 3 different brands of screen protector for my phone.

The curved edge of the screen on the Pixel 2 XL is ridiculous in my opinion for getting decent screen protectors that also work well cases.

My preferred case is the Otterbox Defender.

So far the protector that provides the best coverage without compromising the preformance of the touch screen is the one I picked up at Verizon.

They provide an alignment tool for applying the protector and it doesn't interfere with the case.

Yeah they are just using the photos from the first gen pixels as place holders I noticed that to.

I got a reply. All it said was there will be cutouts for sensors. That's what other screen protector OEMs have said, and many of them didn't have one or even both sensor cutouts. At this point I'm going to wait until I can see some actual pictures and also some reviews that address how they work with cases.

I agree, I wish they would've just had a regular flat edge screen like in the past. All this does is add more issues to something that should be simple. As the old saying goes, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
