Hi there. I just joined the forum after buying a new N7 from Amazon (N7 2013 WIFI 16gb). It is still unopened, because I started reading about the bricking issues (boot to Google screen) after updating to Lollipop, and now I'm wondering if this tablet was a good choice after all!

What would you recommend?
1. Return it to Amazon and pick something else
2. Keep it and never update past KK
3. Keep it and update to Liollipop right away, hoping that if there is any issue, it will turn up within the 30 day return period, or at least within the 1 year Asus warranty?

We've had 3+ updates alone on 5.1.1

I've had 0 issues with my N7 2013 and everything works perfectly

Google is fixing the issues and they are still keeping up with them. You should be good to go. Keep updating until you can't update anymore (PS we just got another update today!!)

Keep and update. I've had my N7 for almost 2 years, and the current Lollipop build is solid (unlike the previous 2). I just bought my wife an N7 to replace her Kindle Fire (1st gen) that crapped out. I immediately did all the updates, with a full data reset after the last one, and it's running great. She loves it.

So I updated as far as I could (5.1.1), but I forgot to check which version it came with!

Is there anyway to check the OS update history log?

I gathered a whole list of the updates for you in order... 7870.jpg

Thanks. What I meant was, how can I check what version my new N7 started out with? I immediately updated (a few times) without checking what it started with...

Once you turn it on and sign into your Google account, it will almost immediately notify you that there is an update. Go ahead and start the update process. Depending on what OS is already on the device, there will probably be several updates that will follow in sequence. 5.1.1 is excellent and does a great job. If Google had not decided to make the N7 the last of this device, I would buy the next (and all future ) upgrade in a heartbeat. I'll keep mine until it falls apart.
