Just bought LTE - Advice for a beginner

I just bought the LTE version and looking for advice about how to get started with using it. I read about unlocking and rooting and am wondering if I should do this before I use it too long. I am confused about how to do it and if I should update it to the latest version first and how. Please help a newbie out. Also, any other tips would be appreciated. I plan to take advantage of the T-Mobile free 200 megs per month deal. thanks

I am not sure about the ins and outs of unlocking and rooting as I have left mine stock. I am sure others will chime in regarding that topic. Definitely take advantage of the 200 MB of free data given by T-Mobile. I signed up for it the first day it was available. I know it is not a lot of data but I have yet to go over. Since I have a smart phone I do not rely on my tablet for internet away from home (on Wi-Fi). The mobile data has come in handy a few times though.

I just activated my tmobile sim with the 200MB free promotion as well. Do you get LTE data with this plan because the only signal icons I have seen are 3G and H.
