Just bought Maxx - Removing Bloat and breaking phone in

I just returned from the Verizon store with my new Maxx. I went under Apps to try and disable all Amazon stuff. What other unnecessary bloat do others recommend removing/disabling from app management? Also, can these be removed from the phone all together, or only disabled? Is there anything else I should do to help "break the phone in" so to speak?

The native bloat can only be disabled, not removed entirely. (Unless and until root is achieved, at least.)

As of right now I only disabled Amazon, Ingress, NFL mobile, VZ Tones, Viewdini, and Audible. Looking into others now thanks to your link.

Just a note for those that have disabled Amazon, they have a number of free apps this weekend, including SwiftKey, which I think is the best keyboard for mobile phones period. I already bought it, but it is certainly worth trying while it is free if you don't own it already.

You have to decide for yourself what "bloat" you want to disable. They're just apps like the ones you download from the playstore. There may be some native apps you might want to keep. I definitely find some of the native apps useful.

I am over bloat on phones. It used to bother, but not so much anymore. I have over 100 apps I've downloaded, the 5-6 that Verzion put on there that I cannot get rid of are a drop in the bucket.

And like you said, some useful, some not. Now I will be branded a heretic :(

Just because something is labelled "bloatware" doesn't mean its bad and absolutely has to go. Especially on the new Droids. On principal, I've disabled VZW navigation, tones and mobile security but haven't disabled anything else. Having these apps doesn't seem to slow the Droids down, and you're not gaining any extra storage by disabling them. I've removed the ones I don't want from my homescreens so I never have to see them. I use "OK google now, Launch(whatever app I want)" so I don't go into the app drawer so I don't see them there either. I actually use some of the bloatware.
The point is, bloatware has a bad rep(deservedly so) but now people hate on it just to hate on it. I'd be willing to bet that lots of people hate it simply because they read that they should. We're really at the point where, functionally, it doesn't matter if its on the phone or not. Don't go racing to disable apps just because its labelled "bloatware." At best it could be useful. At worst you can just ignore it.

Heresy. You will be burned at the stake. Bloatware is bad, it makes your phone bad. People have been saying this for years!

Seriously, I remember the days when it was a real issue; when it took space you desperately needed, or had icons you could not get off the home screen. If it is relegated to the app drawer, like you, I am pretty much never going to see it.

That Caller ID Name app is pretty annoying, though. I didn't do anything about disabling apps until that junkware started prompting me that it would soon ask me to pay for its service, and the app itself had no setting to turn it off.
