Just got a 360: Google fit questions

So I finally made the plunge and got a 360 after finding a great deal on Craigslist! My old activity tracker died so I figured why not get one that also has all the neat properties of a smart watch? Here are my current questions and confusions:

1. Using google fit is kind of confusing so far. I find that google fit on my phone, my watch, and the web all have moderately different step counts, and the google fit card on my watch only ever wants to show me "minutes" despite what I have it set to display on my phone (which isn't particularly useful considering that I'm aware how much time I spend at the gym). It also tends to show me 0 miles instead of the fraction of a mile that I should be at in the early hours of the day. Does it only show whole numbers? Does this data all sync to the phone regularly?

2. Do you need to enable "high accuracy mode" on your phone in order to get better tracking on the watch, or is that entirely separate? They do not specify this within the app.

3. Does having google fit and moto body on the phone double the amount of battery used to count steps/heart rate/etc? I like google fit because it syncs with other services mainly, so it would be great to only need one active. Assuming they're equally accurate of course.

4. Does either google fit or motobody take heart rate measurements on their own or do you have to manually hit the button? I see the green "heart rate scanning" light on every so often, yet as far as I can tell there is no place to go view these heart rates (if that is what it's measuring). Can it tell when you're working out and do a heart rate every so often or do you have to scroll through the list of apps/cards, find google fit, swipe to heart rate, and then press the button every time you want to measure?

Well I figured out one of them! Getting it to display steps instead of minutes was a matter of changing my default "goal". Hooray.

I'll echo Shadnic's question since I have the same exact situation.

For me, on the Moto 360 I'll see one set of steps in Google Fit and a completely different step count in Moto Body (often off by hundreds or more). And then I use the Pujie watchface and when I add steps to that, I get a third completely different step count!

What is the proper way to track steps on this device? When you use Google Fit does it use the pedometer on your phone and sync the data to the watch? I'm completely lost on the proper way to track steps here.

Thanks in advance!

I'm having even more issues with it today too! I set my "goal" at 6000 steps just for testing purposes. Today at the gym I get a notification on my phone AND my 360 that says "Congratulations you reached your goal of 6000 steps!".

I then open the app on my watch and it says 6423 and I open the app on my phone and it says 5546. Then, in front of my eyes, my watch's number changes to 5546 and my goal is no longer met. (Moto body still says I have over 6000 steps). The calories on my watch say 834 and on my phone it says 1468, and then, again, my watch changes to match my phone.

Lastly, the bar graph of my steps this week makes...no sense what so ever. I had about 5000 Tuesday, 5200 Wednesday, and 5500 so far today (this is what it tells me in the app on my phone). But when I go to the app on my watch, my bar graph shows only 1000 steps for Tuesday, 10,000 for Wednesday, and then 5500 today. I just....I just don't know what's going on at all.

Edit: And on the web version of google fit I have 6683 steps -_-
Edit2: My Whithings app, which gets its step data from google fit, says 6800 steps.

I found that the watch takes readings through the day automatically so you just do your thing like normal. As for the step differential it varies mostly but stays with in a normal range so it works for me.

Did you find a fix for this? I have the moto 360 (running marshmallow) and an S7 Edge (also runnign marshmallow). It seems to me that, even though got the Moto 360 and google fit installed on the phone, that it is the actual phone that is registering the steps logged. It says I have done 126 steps today, which I know I have done more, but my phone has been on my desk, and moto 360 on wrist.

What settings are you supposed to have on the google fit phone app and 360 app. On the phone, it was set for activity detection, high accuracy and body sensor

Have you connected Moto Body to Google Fit? In my short (one week) experience it seems that steps are collected to Google Fit from both my Moto 360 Sport and my phone Nexus 5X. The numbers don't match exactly as Fit is probably adding from Moto Body only when the phone has been not with me. And steps collected by Fit are not synced to Moto Body. For me Fit is always showing a bit higher number because it's aggregating from phone and watch.

Check this thread out, it worked for me
