I just got a thunderbolt and applied all the updates to it and I do not see any way of rooting the phone. Does any one have suggestions on how to do this. My phone is now running 2.11.605.9 ROM, and the Android 2.3.4 platform. :-\

Yeah, you can't root it anymore using Revolutionary 'cuz you have the latest official update. The current 605.9 OTA update is not (yet) supported by Revolutionary. You'll need to downgrade to 605.5 using an RUU (wipe) and then use Revolutionary to root -- if that's what you want to do. Or, you could use the available 605.9 rooted RUU. Either way it requires a wipe. Perhaps that's fine for you though, since you just got the phone you probably don't have much to worry about.

You can go to here to get 605.3. Once you flash this, then you can use Revolutionary to root it and then you can install a plethora of ROMS after that.

I downgraded to 605.5. And then did the revolutionary root. After that I flashed to 605.9 stock root (debloated). Works fine so far.

I just got my Thunderbolt too and found that revolutionary tool wouldn't work with the 605.9 rom. I was able to get s-off but not root. I'm new at this, but persistent. I researched it and got root by doing this;

I downgraded to 605.5 - [HOW-TO]Downgrade to get S-OFF after updating to latest OTA 2.11.605.9 - xda-developers

...then used revolutionary tool to gain root - http://forums.androidcentral.com/th...ow-root-unroot-thunderbolt-revolutionary.html

this youtube video is helpful too. How to Root - HTC Thunderbolt (No Data Wipe! Newest & Fastest) - YouTube

Also, I found that until I flashed a custom rom, Verizon kept trying to push the update to my phone. What a pain! I flashed Bamf forever 1.05 and no update notices since. Good luck :)
