Android 9. I'm in the Beta programme tho. It only turns on when the Night Mode in developer settings is turned on +BB it works on my non-beta Instagram.

Whatsapp does really need a full dark mode with green or red text to preserve AMOLED devices. I have an S8 I bought in August and it has very slight almost unnoticeable burn in from the call and video call buttons. When I put various colors on the screen, there is no issue until I put blue where I can see traces of Whatsapp. This in not a defect but rather something that will happen normally if you keep a static image too long on the screen.
