just got kitkat- now I have no video

I have the 1st gen N7 and got kitkat tonight. At first glance all I see is a printing option and some smileys that don't work on my keyboard. Tried playing vids on facebook and youtube and all I see is a black screen. I use firefox btw. Tried playing thru Chrome and it just says I need a flash player. Any advice?
