Hello all-

I just picked up my Rezound this past Saturday. I also picked up the extended battery and the hard shell / holster on Sunday. I have been spending time figuring out the controls and features and enjoying every minute of it. This is my first smart phone, and I feel that to call it a phone is an injustice. This is a full featured micro computer that happens to have a cell phone in it. Even though I have both a desk top and laptop computer where I do most of my gaming and other internet work, this little guy blows me away. Like I said, I am checking out all the secrets and tip?s articles I can find to locate features I did not realize it had.

I have installed several apps so far, the free ones for now until I get more familiar with them. I first installed ?Power saver?, and even though I have the extended battery, I figured it could not hurt. I have yet to decide if it is worth upgrading to the paid version. The flash light, internet radio and barcode scanner is pretty cool. One of the more interesting apps I found was an audio translator that converts spoken words into different languages. I am going to try it out at my favorite Chinese restaurant and see how accurate it is. Hope I do not accidentally insult someone and get a chopstick in the eye. LOL

While I do not know how necessary it is, I also installed the AVG antivirus app. I am very anal about virus protection on my home computer and being that this has access to the internet, I was concerned about risks. If there is a better app that you advanced users feel I should get, Please let me know.

I picked up this phone with several expectations and uses in mind. First of all, it?s a cell phone and even though I am retired, I still have family and friends that contact me on a regular basis. While I have a Face book account, I do not use it much, or use twitter, or any of the other ?up to the minute? social blog?s so that is not important to me at this time. Who knows, that might change. My main uses are internet access for information, weather and news up dates and questions on products while shopping in stores; Maps and directions getting from point ?A? to point ?B?; and taking pictures and video. Having a few puzzle or logic games to pass time while the wife is shopping or waiting for a car service repair is a nice to have feature also.

So that is all for now. I will be checking out this forum for advice and tips often. Thank you all in advance for helping newbie?s like me.

Take care.

Welcome to the forums! I'm moving this thread to the Rezound section so that other members with the same phone can see it.

Welcome! I have the same setup, extended batter with hard shell / holster. Love it. My experience with "battery saver" apps in the past isn't all that good. Generally all they do is shut off data when the phone isn't in use. Or to a greater extent shut off things like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc. If that's what you want, great. For me though, every time I go to use the phone then, I am waiting for data to reconnect, email to sync, texts to come in. My days are busy, I'm usually jumping on my phone to get something done real quick, and there is nothing real quick about it at that point. Anyway, just a thought. Good luck and let us know if you need any help.

Welcome to the forum! Without a doubt the biggest, and easiest way to save battery is to adjust the screen brightness. Keep ithe screen as low as possible and have the screen timeout set pretty quick.

jca245, you did see that the price on the phone dropped today. I believe you have 14 days to get some money back.

Very true. If you call Verizon you can get some money back. I got $50 back today and I am on my 13th day. Give them a call asap because you are within the 14 day worry free guarantee.;) BTW, welcome to the forums.

Good point. Also, dark wallpapers help with battery life.

If you are not in a 4g area, like me, turn off LTE in settings. Saves alot of battery.
