excuse the rambling, i'm just jotting down my thoughts as i go. i got my 16gb a100 from amazon today (side note, amazon prime is the bomb, $3.99 for next day air and i got it in my hand in less than 24hrs)....my dad has a galaxy tab 7" and thats all i have to compare the a100 to. i'm trying to be forgiving since all batteries need to go thru a couple charge and drain cycles before the performance is maximized. after charging for the recommended 4 hours out of the box before powering up, i got almost 5 hours of heavy use. the device took its sweet time getting a gps lock, even outside, although with wifi and google services enabled i got an approximate location. finally, it did get an accurate lock, even while iwas inside. gps functionality is critical for me. i know ill have to download map sections, but i'll do just about anything to avoid paying for a data plan. the screen angle issues are not a problem for me. i find that viewing in portrait orientation is best, it is quicker to discolor in landscape, still not enough to return it. browser pages seem to have just a slight touch of blur. i've had a couple of times occur that the device semi-froze, no biggie, a quick restart, my old palm pre+ had the worlds longest boot time so it wasnt a hassle to me. my biggest gripe is that i keep dropping our wifi connection. it's almost to the annoying level, but not quite. if it continues coupled with very slow gps locks, then a return could possibly happen. my dad' galaxy tab has no issue dropping wifi and gets gps locks super quick, probably due mostly to the fact it's using verizon location data to help the gps get a quick lock. the galaxy seems to be have a slightly better build, screen, and battery. coming from webOS, i really like honeycomb over the galaxy's OS version since the notifications are in the bottom bar and function just like in webOS. minor gripe: pandora album art doesn't show up in portrait and is small and stuck in the top left corner in landscape. kindle app seems to work just fine, but the winamp/shoutcast app is not acting very stable. as a previous reviewer stated, the speakers being on the bottom make for one sided listening in landscape mode. they sound good otherwise and sound is evenly distributed when in portrait. this morning, i'm still having gps issues....its spotty at best, and that sucks.
