What is the biggest thing I need to do with new phone? Is there anything to be aware of? Anything weird I need to set up? what are your experiences?

Not to be 'that guy' but maybe you should try reading all the forum posts before just posting questions that are broad and vague, at best. You might as well have just said, "Tell me about this phone."

well just looking for some help from those who experience it before me
if you had no intentions of helping MA2GA28 then just excuse yourself politely

First thing to do is hide the apps you don't want. Long press on the app to see the options.

I am more than willing to help, but you can't ask such general questions (that would be answered by reading a few threads in the forum) with the assumption that someone will just summarize them all for you.

But, since you asked, here are the answers to your questions:

Biggest thing you need to do: Charge it when the battery is low.

Anything to be aware of: Its a smartphone.

Anything weird you need to set up: You can use a weird picture as your wallpaper if you want, like a cat wearing a beret.

My experience: As I've stated in MANY posts on this forum before, I like this phone, so my experience is great.

See? General, non-specific, simple questions get general, non-specific, simple answers. I can see that you came from the Bionic, so I assume you are well aware of how these smartphones operate, so you need to be a bit more specific with what you're looking for. Or, as I said, if you have specific questions, search the forums, as all the 'weird' stuff, stuff to be 'aware' of, and user 'experiences' are well documented here.

The biggest thing you need to do is to buy the lapdock 500.

You need to be aware of how awesome this device is. (Mind=blown)

The only weird set up you can do is get a phone single in the shape of an apple.

I don't have a maxx, but I played with it in a Verizon shop, and those 2 minutes experience was pretty good.

The lapdock 500 is amazing but not at that size. For what it does, I think it should be the size of a ultrabook. That would be a seller right there. The only reason I'm still debating between that or a new laptop is with that, the size is about the same size as a normal 14" laptop but less functions. I'd rather spend a few hundred more and get the same size laptop and it can do more. The only other option that is keeping me from leaning more towards a laptop is that it uses your phones data and no need for tether.

You may want to consider making some changes to the way the home screens were set up by Verizon, if you haven't already done so. Are there any apps that you especially want to use that you want to put a shortcut for? Are there any widgets that you especially want? Look through the various widgets that are available for you to use, and see if there are any you should add. Similarly, remove any shortcuts to apps you don't use, or widgets you don't care about, so the space will be freed up for something else. There are threads everywhere in these forums inviting people to "show us your home screens". You may want to look at some of those threads for ideas. Setups for most any Android phone will do, doesn't need to be a Maxx. Siimilarly, there are threads everywhere (as well as articles at places like appadvisor) that list "Ten best android apps" and similar titles. Look at them for ideas about apps that didn't come with your phone, but would appeal to you.

I've done the above on other Android phones, my Maxx is in the hands of Fedex on its way to me, so I've never done the following, but I still recommend it....I'd look up "Smart Actions" in the material that came with the phone, and maybe view a Youtube video about it, and consider if there are any Smart Actions that would be good for you to set up. Things like turning off the ringer at night, if that appeals to you, or automatically turning it off at church or other place that it would be inappropriate.

Watching the PhoneDog video review of the original Razor and the Razor Maxx on Youtube may give you some ideas also.

I see a whole forum devoted to the phone with a load of threads all about the phone. Close your eyes and pick a thread.. would you like someone to come round and turn the phone on for you too??

Good phone, great battery life. From my experience, the battery really shines from about 70% on down. I was stuck at 1% the other night and the phone would not die. Finally plugged it in after a solid 30 hours.

A few apps I use:

Light Flow - works great for notifications
Battery Indicator by Darshan Computing - works well, does not drain the battery and has a 1% battery hack.
ADW Launcher EX - runs super smooth if your not a fan of Blur
3D Mini Golf - Fun game

Cases - Not many out there but Amazon has a few good TPU cases; Diztronic and Cruzer Lite just came out with Maxx cases. I have the shell/holster from Verizon which is nice but does not cover the top and bottom.

Got my case/holster from Verizon and I like it. It is still thinner than a DROID X and it has a kickstands like the tbolt.

I just downloaded Light Flow Lite. It is cool, but it only works when the screen is off (if the screen is on, no notification light, which is annoying if in the middle of a game...no idea what type of notification it is). I still like it, and it is a solid app, but just a peeve of mine with it.
