Hey everyone! I just upgraded from my iPhone 4 to the new and wonderful world of Android. I have been on iOS since the original iPhone 2G and let me tell you, I am simply blown away by Android. I know a lot of the speed has to do with having 4x the ram and 4x the cores at twice the speed but this thing FLIES! It was also very easy to figure out. HTC did a great job in showing new users how to set up their phones and make it 'just work'. A quick rundown of my thoughts after my first few hours of use:
Pros:
- The screen is gorgeous. I never thought a screen could look this good but it is bright, crisp, and the colors are wonderful.
- The HTC One has power. This phone has handled everything I've thrown at it without even the slightest stutter. HD streaming, Zoe, graphically intensive games
- Ergonomics. This phone is wonderful to hold. It fits perfectly in my hand and I can use it one or two handed without fear of dropping it.
- Ease of use. As I stated earlier HTC did a great job in setting the phone up. Sense 5 is a true pleasure to use and does not slow the phone down at all.
- Blink Feed. Time will tell how much I really enjoy this but I think of it as a built in Flipboard, an app which I love and use daily. From that vantage point it's great.
- Ultra-pixel camera. This camera is no joke. It does a FANTASTIC job! The color reproduction, speed, Zoe features, camera options, etc. It all flows together seamlessly.
- Boom Sound. Probably my favorite feature so far. I always kept my iPhones on mute since I hated their speakers. My wife is already telling me to turn the volume down from blasting music, YouTube videos and Netflix. The clarity is fantastic with no crackling or popping no matter what app I'm using.
Cons:
- The phone tends to run hot. So hot in fact that it makes my palms sweat. This isn't a huge deal since I have an Otterbox case on it but I had hoped it wouldn't generate so much heat.
I would give this phone a 9/10.
