1. It appears that the volume rocker is a little loose. Not that it'll fall out, but I can wiggle (for lack of a better term) it up and down. Is this natural? Or do I have a defective unit.

2. Is there no longer a transparent Google search bar widget? I really, really enjoyed using it before on my S4 and N3. All I can find is the "grayed out" widget.

3. Is there a way to quickly get to settings from the home screen? With the Recent Apps capacitive button replacing the Menu button, I've not found a way to enter the settings unless I use the notification drawer, or place the settings app on the home screen (which is a hassle to scroll to it).

Thanks!

Did not understand, what you mean in question 1..

Use Nova launcher. Probably this'll solve your rest 2 problems. Beautiful google search bar and you can set custom gesture to do many things. Try that.

It shouldn't be loose, probably just the way yours has been put together, i wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse.

As said above Nova Launcher can show a transparent google search bar, you cant do that with the standard Touchwiz. You can get Nova on the play store.

Yes, goto the application drawer/apps and find the settings icon, long press and drag the icon to any of your homescreens. Or again as said you can use a gesture with Nova to open the settings.

Nova launcher is great for the search bar and other customisation, here is my home screen.

The capacitive button being turned into recent apps was a bit to get used to for me also, I still find myself tapping it in incorrect situations. Although, it has been designed to keep the 'settings' style usage for situations where the 3dot menu isn't available. For example, ScoreMobile FC app doesn't have the 3dot menu, so there is absolutely no menu available.

If you long press the recent app capacitive button, it'll bring up a menu. It'll solve your problem, except on home screen (which is all you wanted).

Thanks for all the quick replies. I don't want to use Nova (or any launcher for that matter), as I don't particularity care for them.

Another question: Can you have Power Saving Mode enabled, but with haptic feedback still on? That was one of the features I liked in past TW's, and I don't see an option for it.

Cheers, it is Zooper Widget, lots of options to customize it, I saw someone else using it on here somewhere.

Why would you need the Google bar when "Okay google" is a voice away.
☺ and Google now is a swipe up away
